Today is the Voter Registration Deadline!

Today is the PA voter registration deadline! Not sure if you’re ready to vote on November 7th?  Check your status here. If not, there’s still time! Remember, you should also update your voter registration if you’ve moved, changed your name, or wish to change your political party.

Thinking of voting by mail? Mail-in voting is a safe and secure way to cast your ballot this November. If you haven’t yet, you can request a mail-in ballot here. 

The Philadelphia Inquirer recently reported that tens of thousands of mail-in ballots may be thrown out in 2024. If you’re planning to vote by mail, make sure to follow Department of State guidelines! See below a step by step guide for voting and returning your mail-in ballot.

How do I vote and return my mail-in or absentee ballot?

Below are general steps on how to vote, prepare, and return your mail ballot. Be sure to follow the instructions included with your ballot. Contact your county election office if you have any questions. Under Pennsylvania law, voters must return their own ballots. The only exceptions to this are for voters with a disability who have designated someone in writing to deliver their ballot.

Step 1: Read the instructions carefully and mark your ballot. Be sure to complete the front and back of each page.

Step 2: Seal your ballot in the inner secrecy envelope that indicates "official election ballot." Do not make any marks on the inner secrecy envelope. Your ballot must be enclosed and sealed in the inner secrecy envelope that indicates "official election ballot" or it will not be counted.

Step 3: Seal the inner secrecy envelope in the pre-addressed outer return envelope. Complete the voter’s declaration on the outside of the outer return envelope. You must sign and write the date for the declaration to be complete. If you do not complete the declaration on the return envelope your ballot will not be counted.

Step 4: Return your voted ballot to the county election board. Absentee and Mail-in Ballots must be received by 8 pm on election day at your county election board. To ensure your ballot is received by the deadline, return the ballot as soon as possible.

You can mail your ballot: Using the return envelope supplied with your ballot, make sure you use the proper postage (if needed) and that it arrives at your county election board by 8 pm on election day. Postmarks do not count. If your ballot is not received by the county election board by 8 pm on election day, it will not be counted.

You can hand-deliver your ballot: Return it  before 8 pm on election day to your county election office or other officially designated site. Some counties are providing drop-boxes for mail ballots.
