What Closed Primaries Mean to Pennsylvania Voters

The LWV Westmoreland County Board Board is delighted to announce the Timely Topics Speaker Series.  All events are open to the public.

The March series will cover closed primaries in Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania is one of only nine states that has a closed primary. Closed primaries prevent the more than one million independent and non-affiliated PA voters from having a voice in choosing candidates in the primary election. This forum will offer information on who the independent voters are, how the closed primary system affects all Pennsylvanians, and the benefits of moving to an Open Primary process.

Join us in-person at the Greensburg Hempfield Area Library, 2nd floor Conference Room, 237 South Pennsylvania Ave, Greensburg, PA 15601. Registration is required and seating is limited to the first 50 registrations. To register for the event, go to the March calendar on the Events page.

On street parking near the library is free after 5:00 pm. The Buncher parking lot next to the Post Office and near the library is also free in the evening. After the meeting, LWVWC members will be available to share information on voting and to help attendees register to vote.
