The League of Women Voters advocates on issues on the basis of positions reached by a consensus of its members after careful studies by League members.

The League of Women Voters never supports or opposes candidates or parties.

Some current advocacy issues:

• Campaign Finance Reform: The League supports limits in campaign contributions. Locally, we are studying the current bills to determine whether we can support them.

• City/County Consolidation: The League supports efforts to consolidate city and county government. Read the LWV of Greater Pittsburgh position.

• Voting Machines : The League believes that voting machines should be secure, accurate, recountable and accessible. Read the LWVUS detailed position on voting machines. Read the Allegheny County Citizens' Election System Advisory Panel Initial Report to Allegheny County Council.

• Downsize the PA Legislature. The League believes that the Pennsylvania Legislature is too large. Read the reasons. Buy a bumper sticker.

• 2009 LWVPA Priority Issue – Redistricting Reform: At the state level, the process for redrawing legislative districts needs to be reformed. Details.
