Mock Elections: Under
a grant from the U.S. Election
Assistance Commission, the League of Women Voters of Greater
Pittsburgh will be holding mock elections in high
schools throughout Allegheny County in October 2010.
In
July, a workshop for teachers participating in the Mock Election
project was held at Carnegie Mellon University. The materials
from that workshop are available here.
In addition, screen shots of two portions of a sample page from
the League's Smart Voter
candidate guide that students will be using are available at top
of page and bottom
of page.
Instructional
Sessions about the Mock Elections, taped by PCTV-21 at the "Preparing
Our Youth to Become Voters" workshop held at CMU over the summer,
are available to watch at http://pctv21.blip.tv.
Type "Mock Elections" and "Smart Voter" into
the search bar to view these sessions.
As
a pilot project,
20 students from Propel
Schools participated in a mock version of the November 2009
general election. See photos and mock election results here.
Save

Award Event will be held on November 4. More information
will be available soon.
